USA: Wabtec is to supply heating, ventilation and air conditioning units for use on 56 four-car CQ400 metro trainsets which Stadler’s Salt Lake City factory is to build for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
The order covers 112 cab HVAC units and 224 units for the passenger saloons.
The flat double-sided roof-mounted units are designed to be mounted in the middle of the cars and have air handling on each side to provide additional cooling and heating capacity.
‘Our service-proven HVAC system will improve the passenger experience by providing a comfortable cabin environment on MARTA trains regardless of extreme seasonal temperature’, said Pino Cordini, Managing Director for Wabtec’s Transit segment.
MARTA awarded Stadler the rolling stock fleet renewal contract in 2019, with delivery scheduled for 2023-28. Knorr Brake Co is to supply the braking equipment.
