SINGAPORE: SMRT Trains is to collaborate with Alstom to explore a range of emerging technologies with potential applications in the metro sector.
The collaboration will draw on SMRT Trains’ operational experience and Alstom’s global research and development resources.
The companies plan to investigate the use of 3D-printing of spare parts, the recovery of braking energy, the use of autonomous robots and machine vision applications for automated predictive maintenance.
The teams will leverage technologies such as additive manufacturing, data analytics, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, as well as making use of existing infrastructure such as CBTC simulation facilities.
