RUSSIA: Moskva Metro has extended Transmashholding’s contract to supply Moskva-2020 trainsets, with a further 500 cars to be delivered in 2024-25. This takes the total orders placed to more than 1 800 cars since 2020, and the metro expects to take delivery of 300 Moskva-2020 cars this year.
The cars will be produced at Metrowagonmash’s Mytishchi plant and maintained by the manufacturer under a 30-year whole-life contract.
They will feature changes from current Moskva-2020 trainsets, including power sockets, updated external and internal styling, and easier boarding and alighting for disabled passengers in the end cars. The driver’s desk will be revised, with operating parameters projected on to the windscreen.
‘We have purchased more than 4 000 modern cars since 2010 and renewed the fleet by 70%. By 2024, a number of improvements will be made to the rolling stock — it will be even more technological and modern’, said Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor for Transport.
