GERMANY: München Landkreis, a district authority representing several boroughs in and around the city, has bought the outer section of U-Bahn Line U6 between Fröttmaning and Garching Forschungszentrum from Garching municipality for €30m.
Landkreis Administrator Christoph Göbel said U6 is of great importance to the area, but managing the infrastructure is beyond the resources of a single municipality.
The transfer of infrastructure ownership on October 15 has had no impact on the services operated by city transport operator MVG, which are supported by the Landkreis; the Land of Bayern also contributing to the costs of running the section between Garching-Hochbrück and Garching Forschungszentrum.
