CHILE: Engineering consultancy Wood is to develop detailed designs for six stations on section C of the future Line 7 in the east of Santiago.
Under the 24 month contract, Wood will work on architectural, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical designs, and will provide site support during the construction phase. Prior to this stage, Wood was involved in detailed engineering for the tunnel and shafts.
The Santiago metro is used by more than 2·5 million passengers/day. The new 26 km Line 7 is designed to ease overcrowding on Line 1 and will link the hitherto unconnected suburban areas of Renca, Las Condes and Vitacura to the city’s main commercial and business centres.
