ITALY: A southern extension of Milano metro Line M5 from Zara to Garibaldi with an intermediate station at Isola opened on March 1. The 1·9 km extension provides an interchange at Garibaldi with metro Line M2 and main line routes.
Services now run to midnight, from 22.00 previously. Peak headways are 3 min, with 4 to 6 min at other times.
The initial 4·1 km of the fully automated line opened in February 2013. The final 7 km, 10-station extension west to San Siro Stadium is due to open next year.
