FRANCE: Alstom has delivered 12 of its first Aptis battery electric buses to Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois for use on Route H which is scheduled to launch on February 24.
The 3·2 km route with 10 stops will connect the main station to the parliament district, with a journey time of 15 min and off-vehicle ticketing to speed up boarding.
The 12 m-long, three-door Aptis buses have a capacity of 95 passengers, with a low floor and wide double doors reminiscent of trams in order to facilitate boarding. Alstom said they have have 25% more window area than conventional buses.
The batteries offer a range of 250 km from a single charge. They are designed for slow recharging in the a depot overnight, and can also be topped up using ground-based infrastructure at the end of the route or via pantographs.
