GERMANY: The first of 34 Type G1 metro trainsets that Siemens is supplying to Nürnberg transport operator VAG arrived at VAG’s Langwasser depot on May 3.
The four-car trainset was delivered by rail from Siemens’ Wien factory. It is expected to enter passenger service on Line U1 at the end of this year or the start of 2020.
VAG placed an initial €164m order in December 2015 for 21 sets, with options for 13 more. It subsequently ordered six and then seven more trains. The first two have already been tested at Siemens’ Wildenrath site.
