UKRAINE: Lviv has taken delivery of the first 10 of 50 trolleybuses that Electron is supplying under an order placed this year.
The low-floor vehicles are equipped with air-conditioning, CCTV, GPS, USB sockets and wi-fi. The stainless steel bodies are lined with aluminium-composite panels.
The order is being financed through a €17·5m arranged by the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development. This comprises a 13-year EBRD loan of up to €15m and a loan of up to €2·5m from the World Bank’s Clean Technology Fund. The investment is supported by the Municipal Project Support Facility funded by the EU.
The EBRD financing will also cover associated maintenance equipment, the upgrade of two depots and renewal of electrification equipment.
The city plans to order 100 more trolleybuses with funding from the International Finance Corp.
