FRANCE: Île-de-France Mobilités and Société du Grand Paris announced on January 14 the winning design for the metro trainsets that will be used on lines 15, 16 and 17 of the Grand Paris Express project.
In December future users of the metro could vote for one of three front-end designs. Around 40% of nearly 13 000 votes chose the second design.
In September Île-de-France Mobilités and SGP selected Alstom to supply 25 six-car trainsets for Line 15 South. This is the first tranche of a framework contract for up to 1 000 cars for the three lines. The total value of the order could eventually reach €1·3bn.
