BULGARIA: Two diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotives for Sofia metro Line 3 have been rolled out at Express Service’s factory in Ruse.
Express Service is supplying its MDD 3 model, which has two driven axles, each powered by a 150 kW motor. The shunters are to be used for depot movements, hauling maintenance trains and rescue operations.
The first phase of Line 3 is due to open next year. A consortium of Siemens and Newag is supplying a fleet of 20 three-car trains and signalling.
