USA: The board of Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has decided to exercise a $18·3m option for Talgo to refurbish 36 Red Line metro cars.
Last year LACMTA awarded the Spanish rolling stock manufacturer a $55m contract to refurbish 38 metro cars, with an option for a further 36. Work will include replacement of ‘vital systems and components’, and updating the vehicle technology.
