RUSSIA: Uraltransmash unveiled its fully low-floor Type 71-418 tram on July 3, ahead of displaying the vehicle at the Innoprom-2019 trade fair which is to be held in Yekaterinburg on July 8-11.
The Type 71-418 is an evolution of the 71-415 which was presented at Innoprom-2018 but has not entered series production.
The three-section Type 71-418 is 27·8 m long with three two-axle bogies, and can be supplied with doors on one or both sides. It has a capacity of 320 passengers, air-conditioning, a passenger counting system and sensors to monitor the driver for potential fatigue or unusual behaviour.
Following testing the design is expected to be ready for commercial service from early 2020. The expected operational life is 17 to 20 years.
