RUSSIA: Yekaterinburg Metro signed an agreement with Transmashholding subsidiary OEVRZ on September 11 for the overhaul of four 81-717.5 and 81-714.5 metro cars.
The work is due to be completed by the end of the year and is expected to extend the cars’ service life by 15 years. The bodyshells, ventilation system, bogies and traction motors will all be modernised, and the seat coverings replaced.
RUSSIA: A 2 km extension of the Yekaterinburg tram network opened on December 11. The new route runs along Ulitsa Tatishcheva between Ulitsa Moskovskaya and Ulitsa Krasnouuralskaya. It is being used by tram routes 2 and 18.
