AMERICAN Orient Express ran a series of three-day luxury rail cruises through the Rocky Mountains between Denver and Salt Lake City in July and August, hauled by two Genesis locos provided by Amtrak. On each of the 14 scheduled trips, a maximum of 100 passengers were carried in 15 refurbished coaches owned and staffed by AOE, including an observation car built in 1948 for New York Central’s premier 20th Century Limited.

Four types of accommodation were available, including Presidential suites with en-suite showers; other passengers could use the shower compartments located in each car. Gourmet meals were served in two dining cars, and piano entertainment provided nightly in two lounge cars with brass and leather decor.
