ROLLING stock builder CKD Vagónka has reported a profit after tax of KC47m for 2005. The company’s sales for the year totalled KC1·15bn, almost double the 2004 figure of KC604m when the firm made a loss of KC100m.

In 2005 the Ostrava-based firm became part of the Skoda Holding group (RG2.05 p101), which ended 2005 with an operating profit of KC532m on revenues of KC7·3bn. Skoda said its business has been strengthened by the sale of subsidiary companies including Skoda Machine Tools. This has allowed a focus on its core activities of power engineering and transport. Around 60% of the Skoda group’s revenue now comes from export orders.
