DELHI Metro Rail Corp has awarded further contracts for the extension of the Indian capital's metro (RG 1.07 p27).
Last month a consortium headed by Alpine announced a €139·3m contract to bore twin 2·2 km tunnels for the 3·7km first phase of the planned 19km link to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
On October 15 Bombardier announced a €30m contract for train control and signalling on two metro extensions being built under DMRC's Phase 2 expansion programme. Cityflo 350 will be supplied for the 18·5km elevated Line 5 branch of Line 1 from Inderlok to Mundka, which is expected to open in December 2009, and the 20km Line 6 from Central Secretariat to Badarpur which is to be completed by May 2010.
