On December 11 Florida’s Ocala station was formally reopened after a $2m refurbishment as a multi-modal transport hub with rail, bus and taxi services. The 1917-built structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and was restored using funding from state, local and federal sources to become the focus of the interchange.
The city of Jackson, Mississippi, has bought the former Illinois Central railway station to form the hub of a $13m transport interchange. It will be refurbished, providing retail, restaurant and office space with convenient access to Amtrak, city buses and taxis.
