Germany: Siemens AG has increased its shareholding in Krauss-Maffei Verkehrstechnik GmbH from 25% to 75%, Managed by Siemens Transportation Systems, the company will now be known as Siemens Krauss-Maffei Lokomotiven GmbH.
Knorr-Bremse and Rexroth Mecman have agreed to form a joint venture company to supply braking systems. Knorr-Bremse would own 75% of Knorr-Bremse-MRP and would managing the business.
Netherlands: NS Materieel has been renamed as NedTrain. Consulting arm NS Materieel Engineering is now NedTrain Consulting.
Romania: Trinity Industries of the USA has purchased a 70% shareholding in Astra Vagoane SA, and is acquiring the remaining shares.
Russia: The Ministry of Railways has signed a joint venture agreement with Brenco Inc of the USA to set up a wagon axlebox roller bearing plant in Volzhsk.
Production began in July at a new sleeper plant located in Reshoty, eastern Siberia. The initial workforce of 250 is expected to eventually increase to 300.
USA: CAE Inc of Canada is to sell its Minneapolis subsidiary CAE Vanguard Inc, which specialises in locomotive and wagon wheelset maintenance.
Johnstown America Corp has purchased the wagon operations of Johnstown America Industries Inc. The deal included manufacturing facilities at Johnstown, Pennsylvania, plus wagon builder Freight Car Services Inc and JAIX Leasing Co.
LB Foster Co has completed the acquisition of CXT Inc, which manufactures concrete products including sleepers and level crossing panels.
Ohio Locomotive Crane Co and Plymouth Industries have merged to form Ohio Industries Inc.
