Adtranz Sweden has awarded a contract to Focon Electronic Systems for the supply of luggage rack units incorporating passenger information and entertainment systems, which will be fitted to the 17 trains for Danish State Railways and 10 for Swedish State Railways that will operate over the Øresund link from next year. Focon is also supplying internal and external passenger information displays for these trains.
The luggage rack units incorporate a loudspeaker for broadcasting automatic and manual announcements, as well as recorded music. Passengers may also listen to music through headphones, and there is provision for emergency voice communication with the driver. In order to provide accurate information on expected arrival times and possible delays, train location is determined by GPS. The on-board seat reservation system is linked to the DSB and SJ station networks by GSM radio.
- In addition to audio and visual passenger information systems, Focon is supplying Adtranz Sweden with in-car CCTV systems for 150 Series C20 metro cars ordered by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik. Each three-car set has a total of six cameras, with images stored by a digital recording unit.
