IRELAND: The government has approved the Railway Order permitting the reinstatement of the 7·5 km Clonsilla - Dunboyne route. Closed in 1963, the line is scheduled to reopen in 2010 as the first phase of the Navan line reopening project under the Transport 21 investment programme.
The country's largest park and ride facility will be built by the M3 motorway at Pace, with trains running every 15 to 30 min . The journey time to central Dublin will be 33 min. The Pace - Navan section is expected to reopen in 2015.
Iarnród Éireann has applied for planning permission for three stations on the 58 km Ennis - Athenry section of the western rail corridor which will be reopened next spring.
