Czech Republic: CD has ordered 11 saloon and 15 compartment coaches and spare parts worth €43m from Siemens for use on cross-border trains. The 200 km/h air-conditioned vehicles are to be delivered from 2005.
France: Alstom has signed a €25m three-year contract to maintain cooling units in TGV power cars, with a further two-year option.
SNCF is taking delivery of a rail-mounted crane from Kirow Leipzig of Germany with a lifting capacity of 85 tonnes, to be deployed on rolling stock recovery duties in northern and eastern France. A second unit is on order.
Germany: DB Regio has placed a €60m order for 27 Coradia LINT regional DMUs for use on the Harz-Weser network in Lower Saxony. Alstom’s Salzgitter plant will deliver the two-car sets between March and September 2005.
India: Indian Railways has ordered over 200 FieldTrac microprocessor-based axle-counters from Alcatel and its Indian partner Eldyne Group, for installation on the Tughlakabad - Jhansi - Bina section of Central Railway.
Italy: ACT has taken delivery of the first of six G2000 diesel locos from Vossloh. ACT has taken an option for a further six, bringing the total contract to €30m.
Norway: Jernbaneverket has awarded Siemens a €60m contract to install a national GSM-R network, covering approximately 700 trains, 650 tunnels and 3800 route-km.
Spain: Renfe has awarded Alcatel a €12·5m two-year contract to provide signalling equipment including LockTrac interlockings, FieldTrac axle-counters and centralised traffic control for the Mérida - Zafra/Villanueva de la Serena lines.
Within a budget of €1·5m, the Ministry of Development has called tenders for alignment design on the 29 km Villafranca de Duero - Coreses section of the high speed line between Madrid and Ourense. A separate contract worth up to €500000 covers the 8 km from Coreses into Zamora.
Bids have been invited for a contract worth up to €800000 to design signalling and telecommunications systems for the 172·9 km Zaragoza - Teruel route that is being converted to high speed operation (RG 9.02 p455). The line is to be equipped with ERTMS as well as ASFA train protection.
FEVE has awarded Indra a €2·6m contract to supply fare collection equipment for its Bilbao - Balmaseda route, compatible with contactless smart cards. Two central control units are to be installed at Bilbao and Oveido.
