English Welsh & Scottish Railway has granted full engineering approval for use of the MP96 series of remote control systems supplied by Cattron (UK) Ltd with Class 08 shunting locomotives. Available in radio or infra-red configurations, the MP96 series features a pneumatic interface with locomotive controls.
Four 16350litre LSG tank containers supplied by Mercer Stainless Ltd have been deployed by Tranz Link Bulk Freight of New Zealand; each 6m container is fitted with a diesel alternator set and heating equipment to maintain consignments of glucose at a temperature of 55í C and chocolate at 45í C. Mercer is also building 45 milk containers for Tranz Link, each with a capacity of 50000litres and 12m in length.
