By autumn JR East will have fitted all 1117 of its Shinkansen cars with Braille maps showing the carriage layouts and locations of doors, different types of waste bin and onboard facilities. The toilets are being fitted with Braille plans showing the locations of the operating buttons and emergency alarm.
Axminster Carpets has supplied over 3000m2 of bespoke 2·35m wide Wilton carpet designed by D3 for the £1·3m refurbishment of 63 Mk III coaches operated by First Great Western.
First ScotRail has announced a £1m upgrade of sleeping cars used on its Anglo-Scottish overnight services. New wash basins, tables and blinds will be installed in the cabins, and the toilets refurbished. The seating cars will also be improved.
