Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has awarded Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure a S$320m contract to design and build of Aviation Park station and tunnels for Cross Island Line Phase 1, and Nishimatsu Construction Co a S$446m contract for the design and construction of the 2·9 km twin-track bored tunnel between Tampines North and Defu stations. This 12·6 m diameter tunnel will use the largest tunnel boring machine yet to be deployed in Singapore.
Göteborgs Spårvägar permanently withdrew all 48 of its M28 trams at short notice on October 28, after inspections identified severe corrosion problems. The 56-year old trams had long been due for withdrawal, but were retained to handle rising ridership over the past decade. As a result of the reduced fleet size, Route 14 has temporarily been suspended.

VolkerRail has completed the latest phase of track renewals on the London Trams network in Croydon, replacing embedded track at Reeves Corner and Tamworth Road and renewing a road crossing in Lower Addiscombe where flat bottom rail was replaced with grooved rail, drainage improved and composite sleepers installed in the transition areas. Concrete shoulders have been installed so that future rail replacement will not require breaking the road surface.
The Australian state of Victoria has called for expressions of interest in for the continued operation and upgrade of the Myki ticketing system when the current contract with NTT Data expires in 2023. Proposed improvements will include credit card tap-on and tap-off, additional smartphone payment options, and account-based functionality.
