On December 11 revenue services began on a tramway extension in Brno which branches off the existing network at Osová and runs 900 m to Nemocnice Bohunice with an intermediate stop at Západní Brána via the country’s longest tram tunnel.
On December 12 Genève transport operator TPG signed a contact for Stadler to supply 38 Tramlink trams. The 44 m long, 2 300 mm wide bi-directional cares are to enter service from 2025. There are options for up to 25 more. Tenders were called in August 2021, and Stadler was named preferred bidder on July 7.
The Kolkata metro has begun issuing fare tokens with sponsored branding, as part of efforts to increase non-fare revenue earnings. Smart cards are already branded.
The Science Based Targets Initiative has approved Paris transport operator RATP’s actions to meet COP21 requirements from the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference. RATP’s aim is for 43% reduction in carbon emission from 2019 to 2027, and for 70% of its procurements to be SBTi approved.
