Afghanistan: The Afghanistan Railway Authority and Afghan National Insurance Co have signed a memorandum of understanding for fire, health, vehicle, railway equipment, third party and cargo insurance services.
Finland: Helsinki transport operator HKL is to deploy Teleste’s S-Aware situational awareness platform to support decision making when to complex or critical incidents occur on the capital’s metro network. The contract is worth more than €2m, with phased installation scheduled to start in 2019 for completion at the end of 2020.
Germany: Mainz transport operator MVG has awarded PSI Transcom a contract to supply depot management software for a tram and bus depot.
UK: LNER has awarded ECR Retail Systems a contract to supply 216 ECR Go2 hand-held mobile electronic point of sale devices with RailPoS software for use by staff providing at-seat services. They will manage orders, stock control and supply chain requirements, integrating with systems used by catering supplier Rail Gourmet.
Virgin Trains is changing its onboard wi-fi supplier to McLaren.
Italian supplier Sigma is to supply its ETS90 ticket vending machine design to c2c, which is owned by Trenitalia. The first TVMs are to be delivered early in 2019 and will feature large LED screens which can be used for infotainment and advertising. The c2c contract is Sigma’s first in the UK, having previously supplied Trenitalia and Italo-NTV in its home market, as well as the Athens metro.
