USA: Ironhorse Resources has acquired the San Pedro & Southwestern Railroad from ARG Transportation Services, and renamed it as the San Pedro Valley Railroad.

The transaction announced on October 17 was handled by specialist company RR Mergers & Acquisitions.

The Class III short line serves regional businesses in Cochise County, Arizona, with connections to Union Pacific at Benson and Willcox. Traffic includes agricultural, chemical, feed grain, mining and construction products.

‘The San Pedro Valley Railroad is a valuable regional franchise serving a diverse customer base and is a natural fit’, said IHR President Matt Cundiff. ‘We are very excited to have Aaron Lovelady continue as General Manager supported by the rest of his team. We are looking forward to transitioning this tremendously successful team of operators in to our family of operations.’

IHR is the parent company of eleven operating companies including five short line railways, three transload facilities and two road haulage companies.
