in Jaipur metro extension opening (3)

INDIA: A two-station extension of the Jaipur metro Pink Line was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot via video link on September 23, the day that the metro reopened after a five-month suspension of services because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Built under Phase 1B, the 2·3 km extension east from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar is the first underground section of the network to open for revenue service. It forms the final stage of the 12 km east-west Pink Line, which now runs from Badi Chaupar to Mansarovar.

The 23·1 km north-south Orange Line from Ambabari to Sitapura is currently under construction as the second phase of the metro project. This will interchange with the Pink Line at Sindhi Camp, and includes a longer underground section beneath the historic city centre.
