CHINA: The second metro line in Guiyang was opened for revenue service on April 28.
The 40·6 km Line 2 runs from North Baiyun Road to the north of the city to Longdongbao International Airport to Zhongxing Road in the southeast, interchanging with the west-south Line 1 at West Lincheng Road and Penshuichi.
Construction of Line 2 began in September 2015 and cost a total of 17·7bn yuan. There are 30 underground and two elevated stations. Trial operation started on December 29 2020.
Services are operated using six-car Type B trainsets supplied by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen. These are 119·9 m long and 2 800 mm wide with a capacity of 1 460 people, or 2 062 at full crush loading.
