CHINA: A 14·9 km eastern extension of Shijiazhuang metro Line 3 opened on April 6, taking the line to 27 km with 22 stations and an end-to-end journey time of 47 min.
Line 3 has been built by China Railway Construction Investment & Development Co. The stations were built using cut and cover techniques, with some being more than 25 m deep.
Services run between 6.30 and 22.00, with headways of 8 min during the peaks and 10 min off-peak.
CRRC Sifang has supplied a fleet of 48 six-car trainsets with a maximum speed of 80 km/h and capacity of 2 520 passengers per train.
The latest opening takes the Shijiazhuang metro to 76·5 km and 60 stations, and further expansion is planned which would take the network to six lines totalling 241·7 km.
