GERMANY: Bayern railway agency BEG has awarded incumbent Agilis the next contract to operate Regensburg/Donautal passenger services.
The contract covering the Ulm – Ingolstadt – Regensburg and Neumarkt – Regensburg – Plattling routes will run for 14 years from December 2022. It will see an increase in peak frequencies and longer operating hours for services around Regensburg, Ingolstadt and Ulm.
From December 2024 the scope of the contract is to be expanded to include an hourly regional express service from Regensburg to Nürnberg, currently operated by DB, as well as a Regensburg – Ingolstadt Audi – Gaimersheim service. This will increase the traffic volume to 7·2 million train-km/year.
Free wi-fi is to be provided on all trains. The current fleet of Alstom Coradia Continental electric multiple-units will be expanded with the procurement of Siemens Mobility Mireo EMUs to operate the Nürnberg – Regensburg and Neumarkt – Plattling services.
