GERMANY: Incumbent Netinera’s Länderbahn subsidiary has won two contracts tendered by Bayern railway agency BEG for the operation of regional passenger services.
The Lot 1 Oberpfalz contract includes services RB23 Regensburg – Marktredwitz, RB27 Schwandorf – Furth im Wald, RB28 Cham – Lam and RB 29 Cham – Waldmünchen, operated using the current RegioShuttle DMUs and also Alstom Lint 41 DMUs. The current timetable will be enhanced with some additional services introduced in two stages.
The contract runs for 12 years from December 2025, with options for early termination or extension depending on progress with the proposed electrification of the Regensburg – Marktredwitz – Hof route.
The Lot 2 Bayerwald contract covers services RB35 Plattling – Deggendorf – Zwiesel – Bayerisch Eisenstein, RB36 Zwiesel – Grafenau, RB37 Zwiesel – Bodenmais and also the RB38 Gotteszell – Viechtach trial service if it becomes permanent.
Services will be operated using RegioShuttles. The contract runs for nine years from December 2025.
