POLAND: SKPL Cargo is working with PKP Intercity to operate two Jasło – Zagórz return services per day from March 11 until September 1 using Class 810 railbuses acquired from the Czech Republic.
Connections are provided in Jasło with long-distance trains to Gdynia operated by PKP Intercity, which is funding the local services. SKPL Cargo is supplying and maintaining the railbuses and drivers, while PKP IC provides the conductors and offers through ticketing.
PKP IC hopes the service will reduce operating costs on the lightly-used and slow route in the Bieszczady Mountains region of southeast Poland, while retaining it as part of its network. The arrangement will also help to mitigate PKP IC’s current shortage of diesel locomotives.
