GERMANY: Hessische Landesbahn has awarded Alstom contracts totalling €40m for the supply of seven new Coradia Lint diesel multiple-units and the modernisation of 25 existing trainsets.
The DMUs are to be deployed on Eifel-Westerwald-Sieg regional services which HLB is to operate under a 15-year contract starting in August 2015.
Announcing the order on December 21, Alstom said the new 120 km/h two-car DMUs would be manufactured at its Salzgitter plant. They will have a capacity of around 240 passengers, and will be equipped with air-conditioning and low-floor entrances.
Modernisation of the seven Lint 27 and 18 Lint 41 DMUs is to be undertaken by Alstom Train Life Services in Braunschweig. The work will include hardware and software upgrades, seat replacement, installation of power sockets and replacement of interior lights with LEDs. The doors are to be equipped with audio visual warnings to meet TSI PRM requirements, and CCTV will be installed.
