GERMANY: REWE is the first company to sign a national framework agreement with Deutsche Bahn enabling the retail and tourism group’s 150 000 staff to use the Deutschlandticket as a Jobticket employer-subsidised season ticket.
REWE Group employees can now buy a monthly Deutschlandticket for €34·30 rather than the normal €49.
DB is in talks with around 1 000 other companies to offer discounts on the Deutschlandticket, which is valid for unlimited travel on regional transport services nationally.
‘The Deutschlandticket makes local transport easier and cheaper than ever’, said Evelyn Palla, DB board member for regional transport. ’With more than 40 million employees in Germany, it has great potential as a Jobticket to convince even more people of the importance of environmentally friendly public transport.’
