USA: San Diego’s North County Transit District has completed the insourcing of operation and maintenance of its Coaster and Sprinter regional passenger services.

This was previously undertaken by Alstom, as successor to Bombardier Transportation, and sees almost 100 staff transfer to the agency.

‘This transition will allow NCTD to have a direct and proactive relationship with the employees performing train operations and maintenance of equipment who work to support our goals’, said Executive Director Matthew Tucker on June 27. ‘Our vision is to build a solid team culture, create new efficiencies, continuously improve safety, and provide the highest quality service for our customers.’

Infrastructure maintenance will continue to be outsourced.
