SWITZERLAND: Wynental- und Suhrentalbahn has awarded Stadler a SFr50m contract to supply five three-car electric multiple-units and spare parts. Entry into service is planned for December 2019, and there is an option for 10 more EMUs.
The air-conditioned EMUs will have a maximum speed of 80 km/h. They will be 60 m long with 113 seats, including 18 in first class, and have space for 289 standing passengers, pushchairs, bicycles and wheelchairs. They will be equipped for 750 V DC operation, with the option to add 1 500 V DC.
Wynental- und Suhrentalbahn operates two metre-gauge lines totalling 32 km which form part of the AAR bus+bahn network around Aarau.
