Elizabeth S Caruso has been appointed as Executive Director & CEO of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association with effect from September 1. She succeeds Larry Etherton, who has been serving as Interim Executive Director since the retirement of Charles H Emely in 2014.
Caruso joined AREMA in 1999 and has most recently been serving as Director of Administration. Following the announcement of the appointment by the Board of Governors on August 25, AREMA President Randy Bowman said that as Executive Director Caruso would ‘make the changes necessary to ensure AREMA fulfils its mission’ of developing and advancing practical knowledge about the design, construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure. She would also ensure that the association ‘is run with the utmost professionalism and integrity’.
