UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has named UIC Director-General Jean-Pierre Loubinoux and UITP Secretary General Alain Flausch among 12 members of a high-level Advisory Group on Sustainable Transport.
The advisory group is to meet twice a year for three years to promote ‘accelerated implementation of sustainable transport’. Its members are drawn from a range of government, civil society and private sector backgrounds.
‘By this nomination, UIC is recognised for its legitimacy to represent the entire railway community and for its technical expertise on issues such as climate change’, commented Loubinoux.
