SPAIN: Bilbao municipality and the Basque region’s transport department have signed an agreement to extend the city’s tram network by 2.4 km and five stops through Olabeaga to Zorrozaurre, northwest of the centre.
The estimated cost of construction, not including new trams, is €40m, and the work is anticipated to take 40 months.
No definitive timescale has been announced, as a design study prepared by Basque infrastructure manager Euskal Trenbide Sarea still has to be approved and the construction plan agreed.
