FRANCE: Following an international tender, Société du Grand Paris and transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités have appointed a consortium of Transamo, Transdev and Strides International as shadow operator for the capital’s driverless metro network.
The contract covers lines 15, 16, 17 and 18, which are scheduled to open in phases between 2024 and 2030. The consortium will provide technical support and assistance for the promoters ahead of the selection of a future operator.
Announcing the contract on September 27, Transdev and the Strides International subsidiary of Singapore’s SMRT Corp said they would contribute their global operational expertise. The Transamo consultancy, owned by Transdev and Brussels transport operator STIB, will lead the consortium and provide transport engineering and project management support services.
The Grand Paris project is the first major international co-operation between Transdev and Strides under a memorandum of understanding signed in 2020. The companies intend to pursue other operations and maintenance opportunities in the international transport sector.
