CHINA: A northern extension of Hangzhou metro Line 2 opened on December 27, adding 13·3 km.
The underground section from Gucui Road to Liangzhu serves 10 stations. A depot has been built at the new northern terminus.
The next section to open is envisaged to be Line 4, which is scheduled to be extended southwards by 11·2 km and eight stations this year. Line 1 would be extended by 11 km in 2019, the same year as Line 5 is scheduled to open. Three more lines are expected to follow in 2020.
