SPAIN: Barcelona metro operator TMB inaugurated the driverless metro Line 10 South on September 8, with a day of free travel.
The 2·4 km branch off Line 9 South runs from Can Tries Gornal to Foc, with services continuing north from Can Tries Gornal to Collbanc along 2 km of the existing Line 9 tracks. Two stations have been opened on the new section, but two more are still to open.
Services are operated using three five-car Class 9000 trainsets supplied by Alstom, running at 7 min headways.
The southern part of lines 9 and 10 is now expected to be connected to the northern section by 2023, with the completion of the much delayed central section between Zona Universitària and Sagrera.
