GERMANY: A 2·4 km extension of Nürnberg’s tram network was inaugurated on December 10, with the entry into service of the northern section of Route 4 from Thon to Am Wegfeld with three intermediate stops. The Land of Bayern contributed €16·8m of the €43·6m project cost.
The city’s transport development plan which runs to 2025 also includes the construction of extensions at both ends of metro Line U3. The extension from the line’s northern terminus of Friedrich-Ebert-Platz to Nordwestring via Klinikum Nord is due to open in the second quarter of 2017.
