CZECH REPUBLIC: Praha city council has approved a project to build a trolleybus route to Vaclav Havel Airport.
The 4·8 km route would follow that of the existing bus 119 from Veleslavín metro Line A station, replacing the busy bus route once the trolleybus route is operational in 2023.
The city expects to order 20 double-articulated 25 m trolleybuses with off-wire capability at a cost of KC600mn. A further KC300m is to be spent on infrastructure works.
In the longer term, part of the trolleybus route could be converted into a tram line. The planned western extension of tram routes 20 and 26 is not expected to be completed before 2028.
