BRAZIL: São Paulo metro Line 5 was connected to the rest of the metro network on September 28 when a 2·8 km extension with three stations was inaugurated.
The northeastern extension from AACD-Servidor to Chácara Klabin brings Line 5 to an interchange with Line 2, and interchange with Line 1 is provided at Santa Cruz on the newly opened section.
Services operate between 10.00 and 15.00, but hours are to be extended in the future. Line 5 is now 19·9 km long with 16 stations. Campo Belo station, which will provide interchange with monorail Line 17, is scheduled to open later this year.
