BRAZIL: Test running on the first phase of an extension of São Paulo metro Line 5 started on May 13.

Revenue service is due to begin in July on the underground eastern extension from Adolfo Pinheiro to Brooklin, with intermediate stations at Alto da Boa Vista and Borba Gato.

This forms the first phase of a 10·4 km extension from Adolfo Pinheiro to Chácara Klabin, which would add 10 stations and connect the isolated Line 5 to the rest of the metro network.

An extension at the other end of the line is also planned. This would add 4 km and three stations from Capão Redondo to Jardim Ângela.
