RUSSIA: Transmashholding has worked with the the Andreyev Acoustics Institute to reduce the reduce the noise from on-train air-conditioning systems.
Proprietary assemblies have been designed for installation in the air ducts to provide an unobstructed flow of air while blocking noise produced by the HVAC fans. Testing has shown this can reduce noise levels by 10 dB(A).
The system is to be used on future metro cars, locomotives, EMUs and other rolling stock, with the aim of increasing passenger comfort and providing a better working environment for locomotive crews.
