EUROPE: The Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking which co-ordinates EU railway research is seeking specialists to join a scientific steering group which is being established to provide the board with independent analysis and recommendations on scientific priorities for its research.

The steering group will have 12 members appointed for two-year terms. ‘Highly skilled and open-minded’ people with expertise in relevant research areas are invited to apply by June 30.

Fields of interest include railway systems, rolling stock, infrastructure, signalling and digital applications, telecoms, military mobility, information technology, artificial intelligence, economics and socio-economics.

‘This call is an invitation and an opportunity for the best scientific experts to get involved in helping us build a future-proof, efficient and competitive rail network answering to users’ needs’, said Europe’s Rail JU Executive Director Giorgio Traviani on April 5.

  • Grants under the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking 2022-2 Call for Proposals were announced on March 31. The next call for proposals is expected to be launched in late 2023.
